What is psychotherapy and how does it work?
Psychotherapy offers you a safe space to work on your emotional and psychological challenges with the support of a professional psychotherapist. It helps you to understand your feelings, identify and change negative thought patterns, and develop new strategies to deal with the issues you are facing. The aim is to improve your well-being and help you achieve a better quality of life. The collaboration is tailored to your requirements.
How do I get a medical prescription for psychotherapy?
A medical prescription can be issued by a family doctor (i.e. general internal medicine), a psychiatrist or a doctor with an interdisciplinary focus on psychosomatic and psychosocial medicine (SAPPM). Please use the medical contact options available to you under your basic health insurance.
What are the requirements for billing psychotherapy under basic insurance?
For psychotherapy to be reimbursed under basic insurance, you need a medical prescription. WePractice also takes steps to ensure that the therapist is approved for reimbursement under basic insurance. Please note that the number of therapy sessions is limited by law. Once you have exhausted all your sessions, you will need to submit a new medical prescription
Is the information that I share with the therapist confidential?
Your therapist is obliged to treat all information confidentially.
Can psychotherapy be used for children and teens?
Yes, psychotherapy can be used to treat children and teens. The type of therapy used may be different compared to those for adults however the therapist have the appropriate qualification.
Can I also talk to my therapist via video call?
If your therapist offers this and it is indicated as such in their profile, sessions are also possible via video call.
Do I need to prepare for the session?
What can I talk about in therapy sessions?
You can talk about anything that's important to you. Trust in your therapist is key, but you decide which topics you want to discuss.
How much does a session cost if paid out of pocket?
What should one do in an emergency or acute psychological crisis?
WePractice is not suitable for emergencies. In a psychological crisis, an emergency service should be contacted. Emergency numbers can be found on the contact page, including “Dargebotene Hand” at 147.
Where is WePractice located?
WePractice offers psychological psychotherapy at central locations in Switzerland: Zurich, Basel, Bern, Zug, Baden, and St. Gallen. Many therapists also offer online therapy.
Is therapy available in multiple languages?
Yes, many therapists at WePractice offer sessions in multiple languages, such as German, English, French, or Italian. The available languages are listed on the therapist’s profile.
Until when can a session be cancelled free of charge?
Sessions can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations may be charged.
